“Achieving
success through collaboration and mutual respect for
each other”
I believe the
single most important benefit of belonging to an
association is to have the chance to actually associate.
This can only be worthwhile if that association is
beneficial to its members. The principal mandate of TMTA,
in my view, remains unchanged – to assist our members in
growing their businesses with a particular emphasis on
“going global”.
“Going Global” is an important element in our mandate
because TMTA is actively and aggressively pursuing
funding opportunities that will be targeted to assisting
our members in exploring and testing opportunities
abroad. One of the misconceptions about “Going Global”
is the idea that these opportunities will, in some ways,
replace the necessity to succeed at home. Knowing this
to be absolutely false, the second part of our mandate
will be to promote and develop ways and means to make
our members stronger not just in Ontario but also across
Canada.
Finally, we are
conscious of the fact that TMTA is a province-wide
organization. In order to facilitate wider
participation across the whole province, we propose to engage potential members in
Western and Eastern Ontario by holding some quarterly
meetings in locations such as Guelph, Kitchener, Kingston
and Hamilton.
These
are a few of my thoughts at the beginning of my mandate
as TMTA's new Chairman. l look forward to
discussing with our new Board and the membership at
large. I welcome your comments and suggestions.
